THE INDIANAPOLIS STAR - Jeff Swiatek
The number of building permits issued for single-family homes rose again in March in the Indianapolis area. Permits in the nine-county metro area jumped 62 percent, to 476, over the same month a year ago, said Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. It's the fourth straight month that permits have risen in the metro area, after a two-year drop. Johnson County saw the largest increase in permits, 211 percent, to 59. Permits also rose strongly in Boone, Hamilton, Hendricks and Marion counties, while dropping in Hancock and Morgan counties. So far this year, building permits have soared 70 percent, to 1,115, compared to last year. But permits remain well below the levels they hit in the building spurt of 2000-2005. Link
