FISHERS -- Hamilton Southeastern School's chief Brian Smith will hold a forum Thursday at one of the district's high schools to inform the public on an upcoming referendum. The public open forum will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Fishers High School, 13000 Promise Road, Fishers. HSE plans on holding a public hearing in June on the $62 million construction referendum. After that hearing, school officials will no longer be allowed to promote the referendum on school property or use school resources to push for voters to give the green light. The referendum, they said, won't ask voters for property tax increases but instead will seek their permission to go ahead with construction. State guidelines mandate a referendum if construction costs would total more than $20 million for a new building. Link
